Citadel High School is located in the heart of Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is operated by the Halifax Regional School board which is the largest school board in Atlantic Canada. In 2007 the doors opened on this new facility and over 1300 students walked in. We had the privilege of working very closely with the Provincial Dept. of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal and the school on all their furniture requirements and also worked directly with the contractor to supply “built in” items – such as under stage chair dollies, lumber storage racks, and computer tables for their lab. Their interior designer chose a light colour palate to keep the rooms bright and we worked those colours into every product. Citadel High was our very first customer for our new line of wooden library shelving. We had been manufacturing our very popular steel library shelving for years and thought it was time to offer an alternate. Their purchase of the new line is a true testimonial of our working relationship and their faith in our products, from just our line drawings on paper they chose our new wooden shelving for the showpiece of the school – the Library. For this same space they had a vision for a double sided computer table and we worked with them to make it a reality, it is a design we have used many times since.
